Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is all set to share screen with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the sequel of sci-fi film ‘Robot 2’ (2.0). In the original movie, Thalaiva himself plays the protagonist and the antagonist.
However, getting Akshay to play Rajinikanth’s arch nemesis in ‘2.0’ is a delightful surprise, given that Kumar has never played a full-length negative character. So, it’s Thalaiva Vs Khiladi this time.
If rumor mills are to be believed, then Akshay let go of a famous dance reality show to accommodate Rajinikanth’s film. “Ending the year on a high note! Super excited to be a part of Robot 2 with the one & only @superstarrajini sir!,” he confirmed the news on social media with a group photo.
Interestingly, ‘2.0’ didn’t land in the Khiladi Kumar’s lap out of nowhere. He was recommended to the makers by his ‘Singh is Bling’ co-star Amy Jackson, who is also a part of the sci-fi thriller. The Britain-born actress was reportedly seen in Los Angeles a couple of months ago getting her body mold created for the outfits she will have to slip into in the film.
About two months back speculation was rife that the ace director, Shankar has also roped in Amitabh Bachchan along with Rajinikanth for ‘2.0’. This was definitely a big announcement for all Big B and Rajini fans.
However, Sr Bachchan recently made an interesting revelation. He said that his good friend Rajinikanth asked him not to play villain in Shankar’s blockbuster. Bachchan said in an interview recently,“Shankar had come to me and he wanted me to play the villain in Robot. I called Rajini. He said, ‘People will not accept you as a villain, so don’t do it’. I said, ‘Okay’.” Awww… fair enough!
